The location of the port of Ciutadella enables raise two or three routes, depending on wind direction and the condition of the sea.
In other ports of the island, heavily influenced by certain winds, as Cala Bosch that has the wind from the south, Mao which is affected by North and from the East, or Fornells that has the North component, the wind can make run out sailing.
In Ciutadella only happens with winds from the west, the least common in summer. Of course, always we will always seek the protection of the coast, so that we meet most of the route to leeward. Thus, we can better exploit the benefits of the boat, more comfortable sailing and can anchor with comfort and ease in the various coves we will find along the way. If completely calm sea, we can choose the path we wish, but if it blows or is forecast to blow wind, agree to abide by these three possibilities:
– North Component Wind :With this wind will seek the south coast of the island can travel Santandría coves, S’aigo dolça, Son Xoriguer, Son Saura, Talai, Cala Turqueta, Macarella, Cala Galdana, Mitjana, Trebaluger, and Cala Cala Escorxada Fustam. We do not recommend going any further because the urbanized beaches are long and have less interest.
– Southerly wind: Under these conditions we can sail along the northern coast of the island, visiting Cales Piques, Pont d’en Gil, S’amarador, Cales Morts, Cala Morell, Vall, Platja d’es Bot, Cala Pilar, Cala Calderé and Cala Pregonda. This route enters the marine reserve and is therefore prohibited to bring fishing gear.
-East Wind: This wind, though not very common in summer, it makes difficult the navigation throughout the island except on the West Coast. So we will find the calm sea from Punta Nati to Cape Artrutx. Visit Platja Gran, Santandría, Cala Blanca, S’aigo dolça, Cala was enough, Cales Piques, Pont d’en Gil and S’amarador.
